You all know how much I love to craft. I was at my local fabric store the other day and saw that holiday fabrics were on sale for 50 percent off, so I decided that I was going to make a fun and festive Thanksgiving fabric scrap banner for my buffet. I LOVE how it turned out and it gave such a fun pop of color to my white buffet. It’s a fun craft to whip up, didn’t take too long and is something that you can use year after year.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Any rope or twine (I got mine from the dollar store)
  • 1 yard of each fabric – cut into strips
  • Pinking shears

I cut all of my fabric strips 1.5″ wide by 24″ long. You can make your strips whatever length you prefer depending on where you are going to hang it.

I used five different fabrics alternating the patterns on the twine. My garland is approximately five feet long.

I folded the yard of fabric in half and cut along the seam. Then I folded each half in half again and cut the fabric strips from those. I ended up with about 35-40 strips of fabric per yard.

After all the fabric is cut, you simply start making knots on the twine working your way to the end. Continue adding the strips, alternating the patterns until you reach your desired length.

Once it is complete, hang your banner and enjoy!
