We love to make tacos in our house. I try to use turkey as much as possible over red meat and this is the perfect recipe to substitute without losing any flavor. In addition to cutting back on the fat in the meat, I made my own seasoning mix up for the tacos vs using a packaged mix that you buy in the store. Most of those packets are full of sodium and I wanted to try to cut that down by making my own. I have to say the results of these No Packet Turkey Tacos were absolutely delicious and so easy to whip up.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 1 pound of ground turkey
  • 3 tbs water
  • 1 tbs red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbs chilli powder
  • 2 tbs cumin
  • 1 tbs onion powder
  • 1 tbs garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Over a medium heat lightly spray your pan with non-stick spray. Heat pan for 2 minutes and then put the ground turkey meat into the pan. Brown your turkey meat until it is cooked through and drain any drippings. Put the cooked meat back into the pan and mix all seasonings into the pan with 3 tablespoons of water. Cook until all spices are well mixed and the water has melded with the meat. Scoop the meat into taco shells or top a bed of lettuce and add all your favorite toppings. Enjoy without all the guilt!
